Chhattisgarh: BJP MLA killed, 4 jawans martyred in Dantewada Maoist attack

BJP MLA Bhima Mandavi and 4 security personnel have died in a Maoist attack in Chhattisgarh’s Dantewada. The attack took place on April 9, when MLA Bheema Mandavi was on his way for the election campaign

  • In a shocking incident, BJP MLA Bhima Mandavi and 4 security personnel have been killed in a Maoist attack
  • The convoy of Bheema Mandavi was targeted by the Maoist who was on a campaign trail for the Lok Sabha elections
  • Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was used to target the convoy which blew up the car in which the BJP lawmakers was travelling.

As per the All India Radio’s report, BJP MLA Bheema Mandavi has succumbed to injuries in the Naxal attack.

While speaking to the press Director General of Special Operations, Chhattisgarh Girdhar Nayak said, “The Maoist used an improvised explosive device to target the convoy of the BJP MLA. The Naxalites also fired rounds after blowing up the car with explosives.”

BJP MLA Bheema Mandavi was on his way from Kuwakonda from Bacheli area. The attack has come just two days prior to the general elections. Chhattisgarh is set for voting in three phases and the first phase voting will take place on April 11.
